Francine Sofa

I went to all you can eat sushi last night with my sassy friend J. The thing is, I fear I never eat all I can eat. I eat all I can eat AND MORE. I find it very hard to say no to delicious food. Oh, the tummy aches. But on the walk home she told me how she recently discovered the joy that is Anthropologie. While I often check out cute dresses, I seem to forget that they also have a home department. So when a moment at work appeared (Don't sass me, I got to work 45 minute early today!) I quickly popped on over to take a peek.

I don't really like floral prints. Not usually my scene. My personal style tends to shy away from overly cute, or cottage chic. But this couch spoke to me. Probably because it is not overly cute or cottage chic. (I obviously own some florals, including a sweet little Vivienne Tam dress that I'm planning on wearing to Easter dinner. There is a time and place for everything.)
(Don't think about the price.)

Butterfly Bouquet

Fresh flowers cannot be beat, but they do die.
Fake flowers? Meh.
A butterfly bouquet? Now that would brighten up my living room!

Spring Equinox

So today is officially the spring Equinox. Starting now, the days will be getting longer.
Hello spring. I've been missing you.

Felt Pompom Rug

I took note of this first rug when I saw it on Etsy awhile back. So colourful and fun! Then I was flipping though The World According To Jessica Claire when I saw she had found the same rug! Options options.

Filofax

Me and my filofax. I even bring it with me to weddings.

I have a wonderful robin's egg blue filofax that I bought last two years ago in Paris. (I know that you can buy them anywhere, but mine is more special to me because of where I bought it). I don't think I know anyone else my age who totes around a filofax instead of one of those handy dandy smart phones, but I love it, and I wouldn't trade it for the world. My friends joke about how I carry my "book" with me everywhere, but it keeps my lists and my life close at hand, and that can't be beat.

I keep reading that the Filofax is making a comeback. I was just ahead of the trend.

Blame It On The Rain

Blame it on the fact that I decided to wear very un-sensible shoes Friday and Saturday. And it rained.
Flats they are, and not open toe, but cute little pointy toed flats. Which are totally inappropriate for the rainy weather. But what do you do when you want to protect yourself from the rain and look both stylish and professional? Um... apparently just look stylish. Squish squish goes my shoes!

Vanity

Decided to spend some time cleaning/reorganizing my dresser top and vanity this weekend. I really like the idea of having a bedroom vanity. A place to get ready. Even though I usually spend less than 5 minutes on makeup/sunscreen/hair in the morning, it's so much nicer to have all my stuff out and easy to access. Of course I had to hunt for some inspiration first... cleaning just doesn't HAPPEN on it's own.  It helps if you have a vision and a great soundtrack.
Here are some stylish bedroom vanities I found.

Table Setting

Last night's meal was a resounding success.
Also, champagne really does make everything look, taste and feel better!

Happy Birthday to My MOMMY

It is my mother's birthday. Once again she is turning... 36! (Please note she does not try and give out this impression, this is an age I have assigned to her since she was actually 36, and will probably always assign to her.)

Very excited to make a fancy dinner for her tonight. The menu includes Scallop Cerviche, Linguine with Shellfish, and a Lemon Meringue Pie.

A mildly ambitious meal, especially on a week night, but wish me luck!

I'm also excited to give her her gift. This is my first year where I've really spent a lot more than I should have (or rather, the first year when I've had a 'real' job, and therefore can justify spending a lot more than I should have). But I saw the gift, and I though... My Mommy Must Have This!
And so it was.

Thank You For Your Champagne

Doesn't champagne always make you feel happy?
It usually works on me!

What To Wear: Picking Up

What to wear when you're picking up a cute boy from the airport? You want to look good, but this is no occasion for a cocktail dress (is it?). Here is one option I am contemplating. A large tote (when do I not have a large bag with me?) filled with snacks. I never leave the house without a snack in my bag. True story. Don't forget the ipod and book. This is no time to dash in at the last minute. Better to get there a little early. Besides, there is so much excellent people watching to be done.

Forever A Bargain

Forever 21 is great for inexpensive and trendy pieces. While many of their outfits often seem too young for me (or seem to have the sheen of cheapness), I have found some great bargains there in the past.  Above are two tops that I would totally rock. Especially the bottom one which I could probably wear to work and for play... a multiplicity that I'm looking for more and more in my wardrobe.

Yellow Trench

Every year (season?) I pick a single item that I must have and that I'm willing to spend more than... oh, $20 on. A lot more. This year it may be a perfect trench. I tried on a nice one at Banana Republic, and I've been exploring other trench options here.

In the meantime perhaps this yellow number to add to my collection?
(And by collection I mean my one black trench).
