Home Inspiration: Jean Allsopp Interiors

My favourite home style at this point is "white and bright". For me this equals a touch of Swedish/Scandinavian charm, a touch of minimalism, a touch of exoticism, and a touch of elegance. I've just returned from a trip to NYC, and have been back for about three week from a month long journy through Asia. My apartment has suffered while I've been gone, with my suitcase often sitting in the living room at various stages of half-unpacked. (At least I remembered to take out the garbage and compost before I left!)

Time to clean up. I often inspire myself to get cleaning with shots of how I want my place to look (eventually). This brings me to these fantastic interior shots by photographer Jean Allsopp from Alabama. Love them. This weekend it's time to put on the Jay Z and let's whip this place into shape!

Picnic

Summer weekend are flying by. If you're not lucky enough to get out of the city, then I hope you enjoy your weekend by making a little picnic and taking it to the nearest green space. Make a date out of it!
I can't give you a link to the above pictures. It was from a site called That Was Just A Dream. However when I went to my google reader yesterday I found that site had posted 50 posts of porn. How inappropriate! So as to NOT link you to porn you will just have to accept my apologies. If you know who to give credit to, let me know and I will list it!

Congrats to a Bestie!

So my first lady bestie is now engaged! Like ring on finger. Like WHOA. And I am just SO excited I can't even tell you! This is one cute couple. Don't you hate it when you don't really like your besties partners? Not a problem. This man is sweet, can cook, handy around the house, and smart! (Doctor, what!) And my bestie? She's just a sweet ball of love and prettiness and loyalty and dedication, and SMART. Great couple? Yes. I only hope they settle down near me so that I can visit them for dinner parties. (Obviously I will visit them wherever they go, as I have already proven with trips to Dublin Ireland, and Hamilton Ontario. And despite the fact that Dublin is much further than Hamilton, it may have been easier to get me there!) It's just that I will go more often. And that's a win win situation for... my tummy.

Let It Snow (In NYC)

New York City Snow.
The boy and I just made a last minute decision to head up for the weekend. Last chance to get away until at least March since we are such busy souls. I can't wait! Oh the planning that will take place over the next three days. He's been once before, but I want to show him the New York I know and love so well.
(Ok, I want to go to DSW in Union Square.)
What else should we get up to? I'm'a looking for a little fun, a little romance, and a little EATING.
As always.

Cleaning House

Happy Friday everyone! I'm really looking forward to getting to spend some quality time with the boy. We've have only had one weekend together since the beginning of September! (Mostly my fault.) Also on the books is going to a NHL  hockey game (two Canadian teams battle... I hope mine wins!), a housewarming for an old friend, potlucking for a bestie's birthday, sleeping in, and perhaps a charity auction? Oh, and cleaning that apartment of mine. Has to be done every now and then. Perhaps I shall don a new outfit for every room? While it would make cleaning more fun, it would also exponentially increase the amount of laundry I have to do... so until I have unlimited dry cleaning...

I Love My Wife

"The most important thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother."
Theodore Hesburgh

Heard this on the CBC while driving around town for work, and it struck chord. How else besides exhibiting love, respect, and kindness to each other can a couple do to show their children how to be kind, loving and respectful? A small thought, but an important one.

The Ballerina Project

Love Love Love. How absolutely magnificent.
The clean tight lines of the dancers against the more urban/industrial backdrop of one of my favourite cities (after my own of course). It's almost more magical than on the stage.

Bike For Me

I'm going to have to just suck it up and buy a bike soon, or the summer will be gone! Don't tell my vespa though, I don't want her to be envious. I believe there is room for two two wheeled loves in my life.

Backstage at 3.1 Phillip Lim

How am I (facebook) friends with someone who shoots NY Fashion week? Jessie Hayes is a really talented photographer, and we have a few friends in common, but I'm not really sure how we became facebook friends since I have a policy of not adding anyone I don't know. That being said, I love keeping track of what she has been up to!
Question number two... how do I make my hair look like that? No really. Anyone?

Living with a ghost

I also featured photographer Andreas Lundberg here.
This editorial has a completely different feeling however. Love the romantic styling.
