Sunday Home Tour: Small But Mighty

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
Now back to inspiring design! :)
This 450 square feet apartment in Texas (not everything is big in Texas it seems) has an incredible use of space. Very inspirational how much "home" you can get into a small space, especially for those of us who are devote city dwellers.

Pumpkin Patch

Isn't fall the most wonderful time of the year? There is nothing quite like the smell of a fireplace burning as you walk down the street, and the colour of the leaves as they start to change. I'm completely embracing the move to soups (mushroom barley last night), and sweaters, and boots! And Halloween is just around the corner! Time to enjoy all this before the brutal winter hits and I start longing for summer again. This weekend should include some working (boo), but also some dressing up for a few parties, some shopping with a bestie, and a bit of volunteering. At this harvest time it's important to remember that not everyone has enough to eat. Meal Exchange is running a program called Trick or Eat where they will be going door to door collecting food donations instead of candy for local communities across Canada. Check it out, and have a spooky weekend everyone!

The Ballerina Project

Love Love Love. How absolutely magnificent.
The clean tight lines of the dancers against the more urban/industrial backdrop of one of my favourite cities (after my own of course). It's almost more magical than on the stage.

Step Outside

I have been very lucky in the past year. I have travelled to NYC x3, Vancouver, Ottawa, London England, Los Angeles, San Diego, Washington, Niagara On The Lake. Now as the boy is trapsing his way through South America I saw this and it made me think of him. What is travel but an oppertunity to step outside your normal life. To evaluate. To access. To think. To observe. I think that is why I love it so. But I always come home, because you can't run away forever, and I'm the sort of person who loves coming home as much as she loves going away. Here's to hoping that he decides to come home too!

Faces In A Crowd

Isn't this a fantastic picture? Look at all the faces caught in the moment. Inspirational.

Ideal Bookshelf

Love this print. Titled Ideal Bookshelf. You can send the author a list (or photograph) of your favourite books and she will create a personalized print. How wonderful is that? At $250 for a 9x12 piece it isn't cheap, but how very memorable and original.
P.S. How many of these cook/books do you own? I have four! (Perhaps it's time to buy some more? I do love cookbooks so!)

When Life Give You Lemons...

Been busy busy busy! Took some time off the working train Thursday night to attend a screening of Casablanca (love), and the a fun little Toronto Fashion Week runway show. Who feels fancy? (Moi, obviously!). It's nice that I got a little adventure in, because this weekend is going to be all work and no play ~well, except for a family dinner, and a housewarming... but other than that NO PLAY. And while I toil away at the office, the boy is taking his Licensing Exam. Yuck! We are a fun bunch, no? But that's ok. I am just thinking ahead to what I will use my lieu time for that I will get for all the overtime hours I've been putting in this month. Perhaps travel and cupcake baking? Perhaps.

Wedding Sneakers in Hawaii

Just another sweet use of the converse sneakers and suit for a wedding! You're going to think I'm obsessed! My best boy bud is going to have so many inspirations to choose from!  His wedding venue isn't a beach, but I could definetly see him taking the more casual route seen here. (P.S. best boy bud and fiancee set the day, and I'm already excited for July!)

Love the ladylike nature of this pic. Very fall appropriate.

Sunday Home Tour: Toronto Designer

Love how Tommy Smyth (who works with Sarah Richardson) has styled his (rented) Rosedale home. Especially his way of displaying his collections (see matchbooks). As a "collector" (aka someone who has trouble getting rid of things) it's great to see these artfully displayed.

Birthday!

Today is my birthday. I am a little sick, but I am still exited! I've been celebrating already, and as the weekend approaches there is more to come!

Street Style: Peony At LFW

Remember Peony? Remember how I lusted for her hair? Well I still do!
("How do you get it to look like that?" says the half asian girl with straight hair.)
