Happy Halloween!
The best way to celebrate anything is cupcakes! Truth. There is a good chance that as we speak I'm running around my apartment trying to make last minute makeup decisions, and crafting the last minute touches to my costume... wish me luck and see you all on the dance floor!

Tim Burton Styles Halloween
If this isn't Halloween inspiration, I don't know what is. I love Halloween. I can't wait!

Trying on $400 shoes is like falling in love with a married man
I imagine that trying on a $400 pair of shoes is like falling in love with a married man. You know you shouldn't even think about it, but they just look so good! And once you tried them on, and discovered how perfectly they fit you are going to be heartbroken... because they will never be yours. And let's not even get into the $850 riding boots I tried on.
(Please note I've tried on some pricey shoes in my day, but never actually fallen for a married man.)
I shouldn't even be allowed into stores with such beautiful expensive shoes. They may not look like much, but trust me, they are spectacular. Classic, pretty and made just for me!

Take Notice: Take More Photos
I am often so amazed by the talent of my friends and acquaintances.
This photo is by Zack of TakeMorePhotos. We went to high school together. There is something about his photographs which is so gritty and real. Check out his stuff. He has a definite style, and he's wicked good.
What To Wear?: Christmas Party Edition
Yesterday I recieved my first holiday party invite, which is especially exciting because I consider this particular party to be one highlight of the Christmas season. It's a multi-generational party with babies to grandparents, and friends of all those in between. There is nothing to lovely as a big beautiful house full to the brim with good cheer. (Plus it's an open bar).
The only question is... what to wear? I could wear something casual, but I never give up a chance to dress up pretty. Here is one option I have come up with:
Marc Jacobs Duchesse satin zip-embellished dress
Michael Kors Nude Patent Leather Pumps (I'm thinking of actually buying these!)

How Much Is That Doggy In The Window

Suit + Sneakers=So Right
My best boy friend is getting married! My first bestie to do so!
Now I love a beautiful pair of leather shoes on a man. And I mean love. But there are so few men who really understand shoes... plus boybestie is a vegan, and to be honest, that's just not his style. If he would let me dress him... I'd put him in a sweet (but casual) suit with a brand spanking new pair of converse sneakers.
Still so hot. This look always catches my eye.

Moon River
Moon River, wider than a mile,
I'm crossing you in style some day.
Oh, dream maker, you heart breaker,
wherever you're going I'm going your way.
Two drifters off to see the world.
There's such a lot of world to see.
We're after the same rainbow's end--
waiting 'round the bend,
my huckleberry friend,
Moon River and me.

Working 9 to 5
I started my current job one year ago today.
That is one year of being a grown up. (Sort of.)
One year out of being a student. (Which, after six years of university and grad school seems like quite a feat.)
One year of being less poor.
One year of travel.
This is a reason to celebrate, no?
I am celebrating by pretending to be a grown up. Lunch date with friends, after work I will go to the gym, hit up my favourite sushi joint with a lovely lady from undergrad, and then stop by the hardware store to pick up a bolt that my vespa is missing. How responsible!
(Please note after pretending to be a grown up I will probably go home, put on short shorts, play mowtown or bad pop music and have a kitchen dance party while I bake something delicious.)

Home Inspiration - Bright Rooms and White Beams
I love the exposed white beams in the first and third picture. I love exposed beams in general, but let be honest, I am not... ahem... a country girl. Now I think a cottage should look like a cottage, but when it comes to my home, country chic is something I shy away from. But by painting the beams white it looks new, fresh and modern, while retaining some of that antiquated charm. Genius. Plus, look at all the sunlight in every picture!

Sunday Afternoon Lingere Lust
I wish they sold one of my favourite brands of lingere on this continent...
Just another excuse to travel I suppose.

More Material Lust
There really aren't enough (any?) oppertunities in my life to wear floor legnth dresses. I've got the height and frame to pull them off, but somehow I don't think that wearing them to work, the gym, or my neighbourhood sushi joint would be appropriate. So until I become a lady who goes to ball and galas, these will have to remain firmly in my dreams.

If All The World Were Paper...
Check out these wicked hand cut paper flowers done for a department store in Seoul. Absolutely beautiful craftyness. If I had the time and skill this is a project I would love to take up. (Let's be honest, it's the skill that I'm really lacking!)

Tara's Thanksgiving Cranberry Chutney
1 cup of apple cider vinegar
1 onion finely chopped (about 1 cup)
juice of 1 orange
zest of 1 orange
zest of 1 lemon
2 inch knob of ginger, peeled and finely chopped
1 cinnamon stick
1/4 tsp dried crushed chillies
1/4 tsp cloves
1 bag (12 oz) of fresh cranberries
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 large bosc pears, peeled, cored and cut into cubes
Combine vinegar, onion, juice, zest, ginger, and spices. Boil for about 10 minutes. Ass cranberries, brown sugar, and pears. Cover and simmer for about 30 minutes. Take the lid off and continue to simmer and stir to thicken if needed. Using a masher or spoon (if you don't have a potato masher...because I don't) mush the chutney getting rid of some of the big chunks.
Serve on top of turkey.
SO good. Also delicious with goat cheese. Also delicious with turkey sandwiches. I'm thisclose to putting it on top of vanilla ice cream too. Bad idea?

I'm not normally into tees with sayings on them. For this however, I would make an exception. How hot is this stuff? Without question if I were a male I would own some of it. Gifts perhaps?
