Cuisinart Perfectemp Cordless Kettle
I was over at my mother's for Sunday dinner, and she introduced me to her new kettle. And I'm in love. Not only does this fulfill my kettle requirements (not plastic, is removable from it's base) but it actually allows you to boil water at different temperatures depending on what type of tea you are making! How fantastic is that! Do you have a tea lover in your life? This would make a great gift!
(And if anyone reading this lives in or near Toronto, Kitchen Stuff Plus has the cheapest price I've found. Cheaper than Crate and Barrel's sale price!)

Turquoise Leather Pouch
Love this great turquiose pouch. What a great way to keep things handy in your purse and not floating around. I recieved a blue leather cosmetic case for Christmas last year, and I love it! It makes switching purses super easy, and keeps everything neat and tidy. And since I'm not a neat and tidy person that is a feat. This would make a great gift!

Royal Tea Set
I just LOVE tea and all that goes with it. Tea parties, High tea at fancy hotels, warm cups and cold hands in winter, little sandwiches and dipping my biscotti into my cup. I also love this fancy tea set. I'm thinking it might make a great gift for one of the ladies in my life. What gal wouldn't love to receive this as a housewarming gift, a bachelorette gift, or a birthday gift?

How cute are these kissing coasters? What a great way to add a little whimsy to your apartment while you have people over (and protecting your furniture from the ever evil water stain). And at $10 for 4 coasters, these would make a really cute hostess gift too.

Birks on a "Budget"
Double Face Mirror with Scattered Crystal $80
Freshwater Pearl Earrings in 18k Yellow Gold $100
Pewter Flask with Satin Band $55
Valet Heart Locket Keyring $180
Say the mother of your boyfriend is really nice, and gave you a really nice early Christmas gift. Something you had been wanting, but couldn't really bring yourself to buy because it was "too much". And say this nice lady also liked nice things. Things out of your price range. Because even though you have a full time job you've only been working for a few years since grad school, and EVERY PENNY is accounted for you in your budget and any extra money you may find seems to go to travel, and that's not such a bad things right? Hypothetically speaking of course. Well, say you wanted to get someone a nice gift. Maybe a nice brand name gift, but knew you couldn't spend as much as you wanted. Well turns out that there are some "deals" to be had. Check out what you can get at Birks for under $200. And the flask? Maybe not for the mother. But the brother is turning legal drinking age this year...

Personalized Bus Scroll
Transit Design based in Michigan makes these fantastic canvas scrolls. Better yet? You can personalize them! How great would this be in your home with a list of the places you have been, or better yet, a list of the places you want to go? It would also make a great gift for a bestie who has traveled around the world... or a special someone who has discovered new places with you.... hm... At $295 US they aren't cheap, but they are unique, and you can't put a price on memories!

Ideal Bookshelf
Love this print. Titled Ideal Bookshelf. You can send the author a list (or photograph) of your favourite books and she will create a personalized print. How wonderful is that? At $250 for a 9x12 piece it isn't cheap, but how very memorable and original.
P.S. How many of these cook/books do you own? I have four! (Perhaps it's time to buy some more? I do love cookbooks so!)

Happy Birthday to My MOMMY
It is my mother's birthday. Once again she is turning... 36! (Please note she does not try and give out this impression, this is an age I have assigned to her since she was actually 36, and will probably always assign to her.)
Very excited to make a fancy dinner for her tonight. The menu includes Scallop Cerviche, Linguine with Shellfish, and a Lemon Meringue Pie.
A mildly ambitious meal, especially on a week night, but wish me luck!
I'm also excited to give her her gift. This is my first year where I've really spent a lot more than I should have (or rather, the first year when I've had a 'real' job, and therefore can justify spending a lot more than I should have). But I saw the gift, and I though... My Mommy Must Have This!
And so it was.
And so it was.
