Congrats to a Bestie!

So my first lady bestie is now engaged! Like ring on finger. Like WHOA. And I am just SO excited I can't even tell you! This is one cute couple. Don't you hate it when you don't really like your besties partners? Not a problem. This man is sweet, can cook, handy around the house, and smart! (Doctor, what!) And my bestie? She's just a sweet ball of love and prettiness and loyalty and dedication, and SMART. Great couple? Yes. I only hope they settle down near me so that I can visit them for dinner parties. (Obviously I will visit them wherever they go, as I have already proven with trips to Dublin Ireland, and Hamilton Ontario. And despite the fact that Dublin is much further than Hamilton, it may have been easier to get me there!) It's just that I will go more often. And that's a win win situation for... my tummy.

A Toast

Hi all, I spent New Year's Eve with TWO of my besties, while the boy worked the night away saving people's lives. It was lovely and low key, with a fair amount of champagne and cheese. What could be better? Didn't get toooo crazy, which is a good thing since I got up at 7am to start baking for my New Year's Day brunch. What better way to welcome in the new year than with coffee, tea, pitchers and pitchers of mimosas, food (specifially bacon) and a lot of really good, lovely, interesting friends?
A toast to life, to friends, and to the next year.

Birthday!

Today is my birthday. I am a little sick, but I am still exited! I've been celebrating already, and as the weekend approaches there is more to come!

Rugged and Manly

Happy Belated Birthday to the boy. We are headed out of town today for a little mini vacation. The boy and I looked at our schedules the other night and realized that we wouldn't have a weekend together to go away until... the end of November. If we're lucky. So as a belated birthday gift I'm taking him away for a day and a night of wine tastings (as many as we can bike to!), hot springs, and massages, nice dinners, and breakfast in bed. I think we could both use the relaxation as work has been pretty busy for both of us, and it doesn't look like it will slow down anytime soon. So to my rugged and manly doctor man (he's not really a boy although I call him that), I hope you enjoy!

Happy Halloween!

The best way to celebrate anything is cupcakes! Truth. There is a good chance that as we speak I'm running around my apartment trying to make last minute makeup decisions, and crafting the last minute touches to my costume... wish me luck and see you all on the dance floor!

Working 9 to 5

I started my current job one year ago today.
That is one year of being a grown up. (Sort of.)
One year out of being a student. (Which, after six years of university and grad school seems like quite a feat.)
One year of being less poor.
One year of travel.

This is a reason to celebrate, no?
I am celebrating by pretending to be a grown up. Lunch date with friends, after work I will go to the gym, hit up my favourite sushi joint with a lovely lady from undergrad, and then stop by the hardware store to pick up a bolt that my vespa is missing. How responsible!

(Please note after pretending to be a grown up I will probably go home, put on short shorts, play mowtown or bad pop music and have a kitchen dance party while I bake something delicious.)

It's my BIRTHDAY!

I've already had a brownie delivered to my desk from my best office mate...
What's not to celebrate? Yesterday I was sad. Today I am HAPPY!
