Jean Allsopp Home Inspiration

So I moved, right, and while my new apartment is currently a mess of boxes, I am having dream of beautiful living. I am searching for inspiration left right and centre. I love the interior shots of photographer Jean Allsopp. Great vignettes, and stylish without being over the top!

Turkish Towels

I've been reading about Turkish towels on the web recently (also know as Peshtemal). They are supposed to be thinner, lighter, and dry faster. They also come in great colours! I'm thinking about making the switch, although I love my white terry cloth towels, the idea about having something that takes less room in the washing machine, less room in my linen closet is appealing. Has anyone tried these? I found this great looking one on etsy, from Beauty and Spa out of Turkey.

Congrats to a Bestie!

So my first lady bestie is now engaged! Like ring on finger. Like WHOA. And I am just SO excited I can't even tell you! This is one cute couple. Don't you hate it when you don't really like your besties partners? Not a problem. This man is sweet, can cook, handy around the house, and smart! (Doctor, what!) And my bestie? She's just a sweet ball of love and prettiness and loyalty and dedication, and SMART. Great couple? Yes. I only hope they settle down near me so that I can visit them for dinner parties. (Obviously I will visit them wherever they go, as I have already proven with trips to Dublin Ireland, and Hamilton Ontario. And despite the fact that Dublin is much further than Hamilton, it may have been easier to get me there!) It's just that I will go more often. And that's a win win situation for... my tummy.

New York

Gosh golly jolly geeze! I've been away for a long time! But I have an excuse. I MOVED. And that took a lot of time. And I don't have internet set up at the new abode yet. And life/work has been to busy to stay late and put up a post or two from the office, and so... no posts. But the good news is that late tonight I'm headed to New York (yes, again), to see my oldest Bestie for a self imposed long weekend! (As in, bestie for the longest period of time, not bestie who is oldest in age.) I have a lovely weekend planned, including the McQueen Exhibit at the Met, shopping (Uniqulo and Ted Baker, here I come), a BBQ party, Pop Bars, and wine. Probably some wine.

I hope you all have a great weekend (whenever it starts)!

Sunday Home Tour: Outdoors Inside

I love how every room in this house seems to be inviting the outdoors in. Nothing feels closed off. Everything feels open and wide and bright! Of course this house is in Australia, so it's a more doable to have a wide open outdoor house year round. In Toronto? Not so much. Unless you want the sleet and snow and rain to get in. *Sigh* A girl can dream, can't she!

Wedding: Suit and Sperry Sliders

Great sneaker (Sperry Top Sliders) and suit combo here! Aren't they funny with their super hero tees under their suits? I could totally see my friends doing that! And love the bridesmaids Toms! They will be dancing all night (in comfort).

Want more pictures, and to know where they got the bridesmaids dresses like I did?

Covergirl Outlast Lipstain

My current beauty obsession? Cover Girl's Outlast Lipstain. Now, I won't say that it lasts all day, because it doesn't. And I won't say that it isn't a little bit drying, because it is a little drying, but it's a GREAT base. I throw it on in the morning, and put a little tinted gloss on over top, and it give just *enough* colour under the gloss. It's a really natural colour, which is important to me, and really easy to apply. I would say it usually lasts until lunch, but that's longer than the gloss alone! My favourite colour is Sassy Mauve. I got it in April while in Florida on a "little" Target trip that may or may not have gotten out of hand, and have been using it since. I'm going to try another colour when I'm in NYC in a few weeks. Why, because that's the effort I'll go to to save $2. Truth.

Scooter Tote

Scooter Tote
Only $10! Nice price, and more interesting than my current grocery bags which are getting a little... worn. Time to recycle them and bring on some new bags? Ideally full of personality!

Pashley Princess Sovereign Bicycle

I love this bike.  It's just so... pretty.

But it's over $1000. This pains me. It looks like it may be bixi for me for this summer. (Until I win the lottery and can afford a fancy bike... and someone to do my ironing. Unrelated lottery winning dream.)

Sunday Home Tour: Toronto Victorian

Love how all the spaces are anchored with black, without feeling heavy at all. Especially impressive in the bathroom! And isn't the wall paper in the office fantastic? Don't you just want to reach out and touch it?

There is Always Room For Ice Cream

So much truth. Ice cream melts into the cracks in your tummy, allowing you to always eat it, even when you're full (or lactose intolerant). You should probably get this poster in case you forget this essential fact.

Kate Spade Fierce Flats

I bought these pretty little flats while I was in Chicago recently. Except mine are gold and not rose leather, and my beaded bows sparkle WAY more than the ones in this picture. Just saying. Significant sparkle. I love them! Also, the shoes are called Fierce. Isn't that enough?

I hope you all enjoy your weekend. Mine will include picking out paint colours (stressful!), brunch, and cleaning out my closet! Whoo hoo!

(On sale, of course.)

Lady Prep Inspiration

One of my lovely co-workers is leaving tomorrow, having found greener pastures (i.e. a permanent job as opposed to a contract). In his honour of his personal style the entire office is going to dress as preppy as possible. Now I'm probably 25% preppy already, but how to go all the way? I looked to Unabashedly Prep for inspiration. It seems according to them modern prep for ladies is all about the shorts with a tucked in button up. I will try my best!

Party Favour Chocolate

Love this party favour idea from frolic! How cute would it be to have a pile of these at the door for your guests are you leave?

Chocolate and Pistachio French Toast with Warm Maple Syrup

Guys, ar eyou seeing this? It's 8 AM, it's not too late! You can have this! You can eat this for brunch today! Do it! (And tell me how it goes!) This is all things good in the world. Add some strawberries and I might just want to MARRY this french toast! (Ok, strawberries and a side of bacon. I'm not THAT easy!)

Friday, June 3, 2011

I've been looking for a bag. A handbag. Possibly this very handbag, that's how perfect I think it is. Chic, easy going, and just big enough to fit a pair of flip flops for when I wear inappropriate shoes! (And a shoulder strap for when I ride the vespa! Fantastique!)
P.S. This website makes me wished that more of the 11 years of French I took stuck. I do wish I understood more than every third word!

Chicago (Here I Come)

Morning everyone! I'm off on an airplane for another day or two, time to check out the Windy City. It's my first time. Any suggestions? I've got a list that is a few pages long, but I could always use more suggestions!

F21 Surplice Maxi Dress

I'm rocking this cute little boho number while spending my last day (and night) in Boston! I got this cutie while I was in Florida, for $12! Yeah, you heard me right, $12! It's super cute, and fulfills the maxi trend right now (I'm not very trendy, so I try and fulfill a trend every now and then). I'm pretty sure they still have this in stores, but I'm not sure what they are charging in Canada. You should go out and get yourself one. They come in tons of colours!
